Set of two medals Message from T. G. M. Proof

This set refers to a message left to us by the first Czechoslovak president, Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk (1850–1937), the contents of which we learned on September 19 this year.
The mysterious envelope containing the message was deposited in the National Archives in Prague's Chodov district by Antonín Sum (secretary to Jan Masaryk, son of T. G. M.) with the note "sealed until 2025". The probable date of the message's creation is considered to be September 5, 1937, as not only his son, but also Edvard Beneš were present with Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk on that day. Since T. G. Masaryk himself was bedridden after suffering a stroke and was unable to convey his last thoughts to his nation, his son Jan was the mediator who ultimately recorded his father's words.

The obverse and reverse sides of the medals are the work of medallist Jiří Hanuš, DiS. The obverse side features a portrait of T. G. Masaryk with his initials and the dates referring to the creation and opening of the president's message.

The reverse side is divided by a diagonal cut. At the bottom of the medal, the number 88, representing the number of years since the letter was sealed, attracts all the attention.
