The name of this coin was given by the maple leaf (Maple leaf), the symbol of Canada. The Royal Canadian Mint (RMC) first produced the 1-ounce silver Maple Leaf in 1988. The purity of this coin is 99.99%, the most of all silver coins. The face value of this 1 oz coin is 5 Canadian dollars. Between 1988 and 1999, platinum "Maple leaf" was produced in all five mintings. (Newly, since 2009, the "Maple leaf" has been minted again from 1 troy ounce of platinum). Between 2005 and 2007 and since 2009, this coin was also minted from palladium. The "Maple Leaf" made of pure gold was first minted in 1979. More detailed information about this product can be found on the website of The Royal Canadian Mint.
